Alice B. Toklas’ Hashish Fudge
In 1954, Alice B. Toklas (1877-1967), the life partner of writer Gertrude Stein, published a cookbook, which included a recipe for hashish fudge, given to her by Moroccan-based artist Brion Gysin. The recipe of this sweet delicacy was embraced by hippie culture and referenced in the 1968 film I Love You, Alice B. Toklas.
