Hemp Trading Card
Hemp trading card made in 1900 by Chocolat Poulain, one of France’s favourite chocolate brands. This collectable card is part of a series called “Useful Plants”, and lists the industrial uses of the cannabis plant: “The wood of its stem, called hurds, is used for making matches. Its seeds, known as hempseed, provide by expression a drying oil used in painting and for the manufacture of black soap. Finally, the leaves of certain hemp species are used in the East for the manufacture of hashish.”
