This drawing, titled The Green Light District, was made especially for the museum by artist Jan Rothuizen. Jan sketched this ‘map’ of how he sees our neighbourhood (where cannabis is a central theme) based on conversations with museum employees, local residents, tourists and Ed the flower man. Jan Rothuizen draws and describes what he sees, but also what he thinks, feels and suspects. He is a big name in Amsterdam and we are proud to add this work to our permanent collection. An ode to a neighbourhood with a rich cannabis history.
