Cannabric

Hemp is a promising material for anyone interested in environmentally friendly construction. The brick you see here is called Cannabric. It is made from hemp, lime and a mixture of minerals. Cannabrics are light and have good insulation properties against moisture and noise. They can withstand fire and frost and are resistant to insects. In the building industry, Cannabrics are used for insulation or for building partitions and load-bearing walls. The hemp bricks displayed at our museum were donated by the architect Monika Brümmer, who builds ecological houses using hemp in southern Spain and Morocco.
