The movie Maryjane (1968) is directed by Maury Dexter and its cast includes Fabian Forte, Diane McBain, Kevin Coughlin and Patty McCormack (best known for her role as a child serial killer in 1956’s The Bad Seed). The movie’s tagline reads: “The shocking facts behind the marijuana controversy!” The director tried to create a revamped version of Reefer Madness (1936), the infamous anti-marijuana propaganda film. Yet today it is nothing more than an interesting time capsule of a time when cannabis users were better off staying inside the closet.
