Literary Life
Un écrivain qui a depuis dix ans l’intention de travailler (A writer who has been intending to work for ten years) was made by lithographer and caricaturist Charles Joseph Traviès de Villers (1804-1859) and is part of his series “La vie littéraire” (Literary Life), published in the satirical newspaper Le Charivari. Traviès’ witty burlesques of Parisian life were very popular at the time and his parody on the writers’ lifestyle, including getting inspiration from smoking hashish, was no exception.
